Summary:

The Data Governance Analyst supports the Data Governance Team in the implementation, formation, and execution of the Bank’s Enterprise Data Governance Program. The Program focuses on execution of the data governance framework, critical data elements, data quality, data compliance, policy and standards. Conducts detailed analysis of data at the direction of the Chief Data Officer, identifying any inconsistencies, gaps and/or control deficiencies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Data Governance team, data owners and stewards to understand data integrity and controls within their respective areas in an effort to assess whether gaps or control deficiencies exist and develop solutions, processes, or policy changes to ensure proper adherence with the Bank’s Data Governance framework. Leads small to medium sized projects as the technical expert and liaison between the various business units and stakeholders. In addition, builds strong relationships with data stewards throughout the Bank to ensure timely and high-quality data standards.
  • Contributes to discussions in understanding the strategic uses of information within the various bank business units in order to identify critical data elements, data quality rules, and monitor progress. Supports business partners in the development of functional requirements regarding data and reporting within their respective areas.
  • Evaluates data process controls to ensure they are operating effectively. Develops control structures where required to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels. Participates in the design and development of enterprise data solutions.
  • Works closely with other members of the Enterprise Data Office to develop metrics reporting as it relates to data governance adherence throughout the bank.
  • Ensure Bank data assets are safeguarded by partnering with cybersecurity and ensure regulatory guidelines are documented, followed, tested and remediated when appropriate. Sustains a level of expertise with respect to data aggregation, data definitions, data quality and data lineage.
  • Maintains current knowledge data governance market practices, standards, and familiarity with Data Governance Tools.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field business fields, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2 to 4+ years data governance or similar level data quality experience required.
  • 2 to 4+ years financial services experience.
  • 2 to 4+ years' experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and strong understanding of relational databases and data structures required.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as (but not limited to) Power BI.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and translate business needs into functional.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and make recommendations for the remediation of data quality issues.
  • Familiarity with Data Governance Tools.
  • Ability to extract and analyze data via SQL or native third-party utilities.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in data profiling techniques and tools.
  • Proven skills with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance and data quality and how they affect business decisions.
  • Understanding of data security laws and regulations.
  • Experience in driving working group sessions for discovery and system walkthroughs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.

Schedule:

  • This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home, based on business needs. This arrangement may change without notice.
