POSITION SUMMARY
The Endoscopy Technician supports the Endoscopy department before, during and after procedures. This position ensures that all duties related to the supply of scopes and equipment management, are appropriately executed efficiently and productively. This position sets up procedure rooms, maintains and participates in supporting the clinical staff. This position ensures the working order of the endoscopy equipment. The position is responsible for but not limited to cleaning, disinfecting, testing, storing and to report broken equipment and expired supplies to the Lead Endoscopy technician. This position will require 400 hours of Sterile Processing technical hours toward certification.
This position supports the endoscopy team by assisting with patient care related duties and procedures as requested or necessary. The Endoscopy Technician assists the physician and registered nurse during Endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and delivers care in a prompt and professional manner. Duties include but are not limited to; assisting with laboratory specimens, disinfection of equipment, ensuring availability of supplies, and other support functions as given.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLS required. Must pass the certified registered central service technician exam (CRCST), certified endoscope re-processor, and/or certified flexible endoscope re-processor within 12 months for incumbent Atlanticare employees and 18 months for new hires.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year endoscopy. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste, and potential injury.
Physical demands include but are not limited to considerable stooping, crouching, pushing equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-30 lbs frequently; lifting 50-10 lbs with assistance occasionally.
