Lehigh University's Department of Athletics is seeking a dedicated Assistant Coach to join its Field Hockey program. Based on the historic Bethlehem campus, this is an opportunity to contribute to a program that competes at the NCAA Division I level within the Patriot League, a conference where academic excellence and athletic achievement go hand in hand.

Position Number: S82960

This position is a Grade: 7 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $39,670-$47,620 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Your Role in the Program

Reporting to the Head Coach, you will take direct ownership of a designated unit or segment of the team while contributing across all facets of the program. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coaching and developing assigned players through individual and team-based training, practice planning, and in-game decision-making
  • Supporting student-athlete academic progress, personal development, and overall wellbeing in alignment with Lehigh's institutional mission
  • Leading and managing the recruitment pipeline — identifying prospective student-athletes, executing the recruitment plan, and building relationships with prospects and families
  • Assisting with game preparation, opponent scouting, and performance analysis
  • Contributing to program advancement efforts, including alumni engagement and activities that support the program's visibility and resource development
  • Managing assigned administrative responsibilities including scheduling, travel coordination, and equipment oversight
  • Ensuring all activities operate within NCAA, Patriot League, and University policies and compliance frameworks

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience as a student athlete
  • One to three years of related experience
  • NCAA Certification required
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required
  • Demonstrated coaching experience at the collegiate or elite club level in field hockey
  • A genuine commitment to student-athlete development that extends beyond the field
  • Proven experience in NCAA recruitment processes and compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational skills to manage competing administrative and program priorities
  • The ability to represent Lehigh's values of integrity, inclusion, and academic purpose in every interaction with prospective and current student-athletes
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel as required for recruitment and competition
