Job Description:
Are you a driven early-career electrical engineer looking for mentorship, growth, and exciting challenges?
Miller Electric, an ITW company, is looking for a motivated Component Electrical Engineer to join our Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Center of Excellence (CoE). This entry-level role is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about technology and eager to make an impact in the Welding Segment.
As a Component Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of our products by managing the lifecycle of electronic components and collaborating with teams across engineering, sourcing, and production. You’ll help ensure seamless product development by aligning Bill of Materials (BOMs), solving obsolescence challenges, and recommending cost-effective solutions. You will drive efficiency, maintain strong vendor partnerships, and optimize supply chain. To succeed, you'll need strong project management abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, results-focused approach. Ability to work independently, drive change, and deliver tangible impact will be key to influencing our products, processes, and long-term success.
If you're looking to build your career, learn from industry leaders, and contribute to meaningful projects that shape the future of manufacturing, this is the perfect opportunity to grow and make a real impact.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Electronic Component Management
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product development and sourcing teams to mitigate risks related to component lifecycle, sole sourcing, and lead times.
- New Product Development: Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to align Bill of Materials (BOMs) with product development, sourcing, and production timelines.
- Obsolescence Management: Proactively identify and resolve component obsolescence issues, recommending suitable alternatives to ensure product continuity.
Supply Chain Management
- Sourcing Partnership: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in alignment with divisional goals to drive financial performance.
- Vendor Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with component manufacturers to resolve component issues and ensure compliance with required standards.
- Materials Management: Apply in-depth knowledge of materials functions to identify and communicate the value propositions of various component options.
- Component Management: Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL) for internal and external partners. Recommend alternative components based on cost, quality, delivery, and lifecycle, ensuring engineering approval.
What You Need to Do to Be Successful in This Role:
- Self-Accountability: Exhibit a positive attitude, strong motivation, and a commitment to personal accountability.
- Project Management Skills: Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects effectively, prioritize tasks, and continuously improve processes.
- Strong Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and organizational communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-Starter: Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, consistently following through on responsibilities.
- Adaptable: Remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and demands.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Effectively partners with engineers, suppliers, and business teams to develop and implement solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Familiarity with different types of electrical components, their differences, and how to test them.
