Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a range of day-to-day accounting activities for a Contract position based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys working across multiple financial processes, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical ability, a proactive mindset, and the flexibility to assist with both core accounting work and related projects as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices and payment activities with accuracy while helping maintain efficient accounts payable operations.
• Manage customer billing and cash application tasks to support timely and organized accounts receivable activities.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure financial records are complete, balanced, and reliable.
• Record journal entries and assist with general ledger updates in support of accurate month-to-month accounting.
• Enter and maintain financial data with a high level of precision across accounting records and reports.
• Contribute to special assignments and ad hoc projects that support departmental goals and reporting needs.
• Provide additional accounting and administrative assistance as needed to help the team meet deadlines and priorities.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience handling core accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Strong accuracy in data entry and a consistent focus on detail in day-to-day financial tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for organizing, reviewing, and analyzing accounting information.
• Familiarity with general ledger processes and standard accounting documentation.
• Experience using QuickBooks Online is preferred.
• Comfort learning new systems and tools quickly in a technology-driven work environment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate successfully with colleagues across the team.

Compensation

$23.00-$32.00 Hourly
