Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
• Lead the monthly close process by coordinating deadlines, reviewing completed work, and ensuring financial results are finalized accurately and on schedule.
• Oversee daily general ledger activity and maintain the integrity of accounting records across key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for areas such as cash, investments, revenue, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payables, and accrued liabilities.
• Supervise and support accounting staff, providing direction on priorities, quality standards, and timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Partner with finance colleagues and internal teams to respond to accounting-related questions, reporting needs, and ad hoc analysis requests.
• Assist with financial statement audit preparation by organizing documentation, validating account support, and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Monitor accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through effective use of financial systems and related business applications.
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and general ledger management.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a combination of relevant education and practical accounting experience.
• Demonstrated background in account reconciliation, journal entry review, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing clear, organized supporting documentation.
• Strong Excel capabilities, including the ability to work efficiently with large and detailed data sets.
• Prior leadership or team oversight experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, including restricted fund accounting, is highly valued.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and tools such as Expensify, Bill.com, Tipalti, Ceres, or Asset Panda is an advantage.
