Payroll Tax Analyst
Responsibilities:
• Manage end-to-end payroll tax activities across multiple business entities, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations and balancing activities to support accurate reporting and filings.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen payroll tax workflows and put improved procedures in place to increase efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
• Review escalated tax issues, determine underlying causes, and implement corrective actions that reduce repeat errors.
• Validate Oracle Payroll Cloud tax updates and legislative changes through structured testing before deployment into ongoing operations.
• Diagnose payroll tax system issues and work closely with internal technology teams or external system support resources to resolve them.
• Collaborate with tax service partners to address filing discrepancies and help ensure deposits and submissions are completed on schedule.
• Keep payroll tax process documentation, standard operating procedures, and compliance calendars current and well organized.
Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of multistate payroll experience, including substantial exposure to payroll tax compliance and payroll processing activities.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax rules, reporting obligations, agency notices, and filing requirements at multiple jurisdictional levels.
• Experience working with payroll tax service providers such as SmartCompliance or comparable third-party platforms.
• Hands-on familiarity with Oracle Payroll Cloud or a similar enterprise payroll system.
• Ability to manage full-cycle payroll tax tasks, including deposits, reporting, returns, and transaction review.
• Working knowledge of garnishments and local payroll tax considerations within a payroll environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage deadlines and resolve issues effectively.
Compensation
