Legal Assistant, Family Law
A growing Twin Cities law firm is seeking a Family Law Legal Assistant to support its busy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment and wants to play a meaningful role supporting both attorneys and clients through complex family law matters.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, highly organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively while handling sensitive client matters with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals within the family law practice
- Draft and prepare routine correspondence, legal documents, and client communications
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments
- Handle client intake and serve as a point of contact for routine communications
- Perform e-filing and ensure accuracy and compliance with court procedures
- Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical
- Monitor deadlines and assist with docketing and case tracking
- Answer, screen, and direct telephone calls professionally
- Assist with legal research and preparation of case materials, as needed
- Prepare expense reports and support general administrative functions
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of legal assistant or legal administrative experience, preferably within family law
- Experience with e-filing and familiarity with court systems and procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent proofreading and document formatting abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
