What You Will Do
- Answering phone calls and email inquiries from prospective students; providing information regarding the application process and admission decisions; and referring questions to student advisors and admissions officers appropriately.
- Greeting visitors to the graduate and international admissions office and providing information about the educational opportunities available at SIUE.
- Assisting with the organization of recruitment materials, requests for campus tours, and special requests from academic departments, including requests for assistance with the organization of webinars, open houses, and other recruitment events. This work will include cooperating with university marketing and communications, ESRA, and other university offices on pre-event planning activities and sending email notifications and reminders regarding events.
- Working with enrollment management staff and the office of international affairs to coordinate and manage pre-arrival and welcome events for new international students at the start of the academic year.
- Organizing office workflow for the recruitment team relating to day-to-day activities such as managing department in-box responses, coverage for chat and virtual meeting schedules with prospective international undergraduate and transfer students and both international and domestic graduate students.
- Assisting the director and associate director with tasks as needed, including managing coverage schedules among the recruitment team and student workers.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- Proven written and oral communication skills
- Basic knowledge of SIUE and the educational programs SIUE offers to both undergraduate and graduate students
- Preferred experience working with international students and English language learners
- Preferred knowledge of college admissions policies and student application and data systems (Banner and Slate)

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
