About the Role:

Are you passionate about chemical safety, regulatory compliance, and making a real-world impact? At 3E, we’re expanding our team in Japan and looking for a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Author ready to grow with us.

Whether you’re an experienced professional seeking a high-impact, client-facing role or an early-career scientist eager to learn and contribute, this is your chance to be part of a mission-driven, global company as we establish a new service offering in the Japanese market.

You’ll join a collaborative team that combines scientific expertise, cutting-edge technology, and customer focus to deliver high-quality SDS authoring and regulatory support. Along the way, you’ll deepen your knowledge of global regulations, gain exposure to international clients, and help define how we deliver world-class services across Japan and beyond.

What You'll Do:

  • Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Authoring SDSs independently or with support using tools like 3E Generate, SAP EHS, or WERCS

  • Supporting classification and hazard communication for products under UN GHS, EU CLP, REACH, US OSHA, WHMIS (HPR), and Japan’s JIS Z 7252 / JIS Z 7253

  • Assisting with or leading first-time SDS creation for new products

  • Participating in or owning client meetings in Japanese to explain technical information, address regulatory questions, and localize global processes

  • Collaborating with cross-functional global teams to ensure service quality

  • Helping tailor and translate GPS processes for the Japanese market

  • Contributing to documentation, training, and support, based on your level

What Makes You a Great Fit

We’re open to a range of profiles — from early-career candidates to experienced professionals. You’ll be evaluated based on your mix of skills, mindset, and growth potential.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field such as chemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering, etc.

  • Native-level Japanese proficiency and high business-level English (verbal and written)

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and collaborate across time zones

  • Located in Japan; preference for those in the Tokyo area, but remote options available for experienced candidates

Preferred:

  • SDS authoring experience using 3E Generate (strongly preferred), SAP EHS, WERCS, or similar tools

  • Familiarity with global regulations and hazard classification: GHS, CLP, REACH, JIS Z 7252 / 7253, HPR, etc.

  • Client-facing or consulting experience

  • Strong learning agility and ability to take initiative with minimal oversight

  • Entry-level familiarity with AI tools for translation or drafting

What You’ll Gain:

  • Early career professionals: Structured training, mentorship, and international exposure

  • Experienced professionals: A chance to take ownership, influence service delivery, and grow into consulting or leadership roles

  • A fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where your work shapes real-world outcomes

  • Opportunities to grow with GPS expansion in Japan and across global markets

  • Exposure to international regulatory frameworks and cross-border collaboration

  • A workplace culture built on continuous improvement, inclusion, and care
