Position Summary Information
| Job Description Summary: |
The Career Development Graduate Assistant in the University Career Center is for graduate students interested in supporting Villanova students with their career and professional development needs. This role is geared towards graduate students pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Human Resources, or Higher Education, though we encourage all applicants with relevant experience and interests to apply. This graduate student position is a paid role consisting of approximately 20 hours per week for the academic year. Successful graduate assistants are those who have strong coaching/interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently and take initiative, an interest in career and professional development, and a passion for helping others.
The Graduate Assistant will be involved with all aspects of the office, with a strong emphasis on student appointments. The Graduate Assistant will enhance their competencies in advising and presentation skills, awareness of the career development process, and knowledge of higher education administration, career planning and the recruiting field. Personal counseling or long-term therapy is not a component of this experience.
Duties include (training will be provided):
Other potential duties: Aid in execution of career fairs, employer events, and additional Career Center programming and events. Assist with on-campus recruiting, operations activities, and marketing campaigns as needed.

The Career Center is a dynamic office providing career development assistance to undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. We also offer a comprehensive suite of services for employers who recruit at Villanova University. Over 2000 students make appointments with career counselors during the academic year. 300+ employers recruit students on campus from September to April and the office hosts or co-hosts various career programs throughout the year. The staff consists of 20 professionals and a team of undergraduate Career Center Ambassadors. |
