We are seeking a Quantum Computer Project Engineer in our Brooklyn Park, MN Location.
This engineering role will collaborate with program management, subsystem manufacturing, and system production teams to develop and coordinate project plans aligned with subsystem production as well as higher-level program schedules. The Project Engineer (PE) will be accountable for the on-time delivery of quantum computer hardware and functionality to meet program needs. This role is primarily responsible for planning, tracking, and coordinating system integration and validation activities across multiple units. To do so, the ideal candidate will bring technical depth in multiple subsystems and develop it at the system level such that they can ask good questions, spot risks early, and earn the trust of the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed schedules and weekly workflows for subsystem receipt, system integration, system verification & validation, and system delivery for a complex quantum computer product
- Track and manage milestones to measure technical progress and risk
- Track and deconflict staffing resources across multiple product realization phases and units
- Perform day-to-day coordination of deliverables to/from other groups (such as Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, etc.) on cross-functional teams
- Support program-level Rolling Action Item Logs (RAIL), Risk registers, and other tracking tools to keep sight of tasks and organize activities
- Coordinate with subsystem teams, program management, and support teams to get on-time delivery of needed hardware and technical resources
- Support regular project reviews and status meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
- Capture regular lessons learned from throughout the product realization process and collaborate with technical/programmatic leadership to inform future project cost/schedule estimates and process improvements
- Up to 10% domestic travel to support internal meetings and coordinate with remote teams
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree minimum
- Minimum 4 years of experience in milestone-driven technical program management or project engineering
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Bachelor's degree in physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an associated STEM field preferred
- Experience delivering high-complexity, low-volume integrated hardware systems to external customers
- Experience with atomic-physics-based or quantum information projects, including R&D, production, operations, and/or sustainment
- Comfort applying project management practices to the ambiguity of deployable low-volume products and balancing competing priorities
- Strong bias to action, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset
- Experience interfacing with internal and external production/manufacturing resources
- Strong familiarity with project management, development, and collaboration tools, including Confluence, Smartsheet, MS365 suite, JIRA, Slack, and Microsoft Project
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Scrum Master Certification
- Prior experience using waterfall, lean, agile, or Kanban program management methodologies and tailoring practices to get the best results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
- Experience working with remote and global teams
The pay range for this role is $144,000– $160,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
