Position Summary, Fiber Attach Process Engineer Co-op

The Fiber Attach Process Engineer Co-op will help support fiber attach processes for photonic assemblies, including alignment, measurement, and packaging. The Co-op will also assist with troubleshooting and helps improve processes by developing tools and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Fiber Attach Engineer, learn and understand fiber attach process flow
  • Run processes to measure, nano-position, and affix fiber array units into photonic packages
  • Perform post-attach assembly measurement; provide report to customer; package assemblies for shipping
  • Troubleshoot process issues
  • Design, develop, and manufacture tool fixtures and specialized components to improve existing processes



Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Fiber Attach Process Engineer Co-op

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a relevant undergraduate or graduate engineering program (microelectronics, mechanical, or materials) and has completed at least two years of their program if undergraduate.
  • Experience with basic hand tools (screwdrivers, tweezers, drills, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies and/or electronics a plus
  • Discipline to strictly follow process instruction
  • Diligent data recording and collection throughout entire fiber attach process
  • 3D solid modeling a plus [Autodesk, Fusion, SolidWorks]

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications, Fiber Attach Process Engineer Co-op

  • General understanding of electronics and silicon photonics packaging
  • 3D printing and CNC experience a plus, including but not limited to file preparation, toolpath generation, raw material prep, and part finishing
