Accounting Clerk

We are looking for a part time Accounting Clerk in Norfolk, Virginia. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced accounting setting with a high volume of financial transactions and tight deadlines. The role will focus on accurate journal entry processing, general ledger support, and day-to-day accounting tasks that help maintain reliable financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and enter a high volume of journal entries while maintaining accuracy and proper account coding.

• Review accounting transactions to confirm entries are complete, correctly recorded, and aligned with internal standards.

• Support general ledger activity by researching discrepancies and helping keep financial records current.

• Process invoices and assist with accounts payable tasks to ensure timely and accurate payment handling.

• Assist with accounts receivable activities, including recording incoming payments and updating account details.

• Perform detailed data entry for financial records and verify supporting documentation for completeness.

• Help maintain audit-ready records by checking compliance with established accounting procedures and documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience in accounting support, bookkeeping, or fiscal clerical work in a high-volume environment.

• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.

• Hands-on experience with journal entries, invoice processing, and financial data entry.

• Ability to work accurately under deadlines and manage multiple transactional priorities.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct entry errors.

• Familiarity with audit compliance practices and maintaining organized financial documentation.
