Employee Relations Specialist

Compensation: $43.54 to $50.41 Hourly

A Hospital in Van Nuys is looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to support a respectful, compliant, and inclusive workplace. This Employee Relations Specialist position plays a key role in guiding leaders and employees through sensitive workplace matters while helping maintain strong compliance standards in a healthcare environment. The Employee Relations Specialist must brings sound judgment, strong knowledge of employment regulations, and the ability to manage complex employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion.


Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough workplace investigations involving concerns such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and policy breaches, then document findings and recommend next steps.

• Provide guidance to supervisors and staff on employee relations matters, policy interpretation, and appropriate resolution strategies for workplace concerns.

• Apply organizational policies consistently by supporting corrective action processes and progressive discipline practices in alignment with legal and internal standards.

• Collaborate with HR leadership, legal, and compliance partners to respond to agency matters, regulatory reviews, audits, and other employment-related inquiries.

• Interpret and apply California employment requirements and federal labor regulations within a highly regulated healthcare setting.

• Support administration and compliance activities related to alternative work schedule programs and other workforce policies.

• Design and deliver training for leaders and employees on compliance topics, workplace expectations, and employee relations best practices.

• Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, workplace culture, and organizational trust while safeguarding confidential information.

• Maintain accurate records, review relevant documentation, and gather evidence through interviews and fact-finding processes to support sound employment decisions.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in employee relations, ideally within healthcare or another highly regulated industry.

• Proven ability to lead complex workplace investigations and produce clear, well-supported recommendations.

• Strong working knowledge of California employment law and applicable federal labor regulations.

• Experience developing and facilitating compliance, leadership, or employee relations training programs.

• Excellent analytical, interviewing, conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

• Ability to obtain an LA City Fire Card within 30 days of starting employment.


Compensation

$43.00-$55.00 Hourly
