The Technical Advisor II (TA II) role is twofold: (1) account management and sales and (2) technical resource delivery and application. The TA II reports to the Senior Manager (SM CEG) and is responsible for technology transfer and developing strong relationships at all appropriate levels within assigned client organizations. The TA II proactively promotes EPRI’s capabilities and programs to enhance revenue growth of assigned clients. The TA II will have strong general knowledge of EPRI’s capabilities as well as strong subject matter expertise in the assigned R&D sector. Technical Advisor II's will be called upon to make general as well as sector specific presentations.
This position will be responsible for territories in either Central or Southeast United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish strong relationships at all appropriate decision-making levels within assigned accounts. Make general as well as specific sales calls and presentations to broaden client engagement. Understand the client’s strategic issues, business objectives, unique needs, and decision-making processes to drive revenue growth.
- Proactively identify existing EPRI products and solutions that can be positioned to meet and exceed client needs.
- Manage the client engagement process from client needs assessment through the close of sales and coordinate appropriate internal cross-functional support as needed.
- Possess a sufficiently deep technical comprehension of the sector R&D portfolio with ability to represent a strong value proposition to clients of appropriate technical programs, projects, and products.
- Take an active role in defining, launching, and closing sales of key supplemental projects.
- Capture client, market, and product feedback to help support and influence future EPRI product development.
- Proactively capture and communicate value to document impacts and benefits to assigned clients on a regular basis throughout the year.
- Work closely with technical staff and build relationships with appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Track and manage opportunity funnel in client relationship management (CRM) tool and actively track every opportunity through the full life cycle of sales.
- Identify, develop, and cultivate relationships with client end users to facilitate effective technology transfer. Work with end users to support implementation/application of relevant EPRI results.
- Actively promote the implementation and broad acceptance of EPRI’s tools/results broadly across the client organization.
- Work collaboratively across the other EPRI R&D sector programs to promote and cross sell relevant research.
- Provide feedback to technical staff on the structure and content of the Annual Research Portfolio.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in related technical discipline. Engineering degree preferred along with advanced degree.
- Desired ten years electric power or similar industry experience with at least 5 years of experience in selling complex technical solutions.
- Solid understanding of account management and sales practices/principles with the ability to drive the sales process from needs assessment to close.
- Ability to effectively engage at all levels within client organizations.
- Broad understanding of the energy industry with specific expertise in assigned sector.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Ability to work toward common goals in a team atmosphere.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective presentation development and delivery skills.
- Willing to travel approximately 50% of the time.
