Vice President of Finance & Accounting

Compensation: $180 to $200 Yearly

We are looking for an accomplished finance executive to lead accounting operations and guide the financial strategy of a mission-driven organization in Asheville, North Carolina. This role will oversee core financial functions, strengthen internal controls, and deliver clear reporting that supports sound decision-making across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership in corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis, and general ledger management, along with the ability to align financial stewardship with organizational goals.

Responsibilities:
• Direct the organization’s finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate oversight of financial operations and long-term fiscal health.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of timely financial statements, management reports, and performance analyses for executive leadership.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support strategic priorities and operational decisions.
• Establish and enhance internal control practices to protect assets, maintain compliance, and improve financial discipline.
• Manage general ledger activities, month-end and year-end close processes, and the integrity of accounting records.
• Provide executive guidance on financial trends, risks, and opportunities, translating data into actionable business recommendations.
• Develop, mentor, and evaluate finance and accounting team members to build a high-performing department.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and organizational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Extensive leadership experience in finance and accounting, including responsibility for both strategic planning and day-to-day financial operations.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, general ledger oversight, and corporate accounting practices.
• Demonstrated success leading budgeting, forecasting, and FP& A functions in a complex organization.
• Ability to interpret financial results and communicate recommendations clearly to executive stakeholders.
• Proven experience building, managing, and developing finance teams with a focus on accountability and performance.
• Deep knowledge of accounting standards, compliance expectations, and sound financial governance principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced credentials such as CPA or MBA are strongly valued.

Compensation

$180,000.00-$200,000.00 Yearly
