Position Summary

The Community and Family Services Director provides strategic leadership, program oversight, and quality assurance across multiple service areas. This role fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement—both within The Village and through community partnerships. The Director ensures program fidelity, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.

Program Portfolio

Fatherhood Engagement Services (FES)

FES strengthens father child relationships and increases fathers’ involvement in DCF case planning, service provision, and positive parenting. Through outreach, case management, clinical services, and group programming, fathers build skills that support healthy, nurturing relationships.

Juvenile Review Board (JRB)

The JRB provides a restorative alternative to juvenile court for youth who have committed minor offenses. Using a Balanced and Restorative Justice model, youth acknowledge harm, take responsibility, and complete actions that repair relationships with victims and the community.

The Director provides oversight for both programs and delivers clinical services within FES, ensuring adherence to trauma informed and evidence based models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership — Serve as a thought partner in developing and integrating Village programs.

  • Operational Integration — Create efficiencies across internal and external systems.

  • Data Driven Management — Lead quality improvement, planning, and database integrity.

  • Strategic Positioning — Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to strengthen program visibility and impact.

  • Work Plan Oversight — Develop, monitor, and evaluate program goals and outcomes.

  • Cross Program Coordination — Ensure service integration and system of care development.

  • Reporting & Compliance — Produce reports, contribute to grants, and support policy development.

  • Training & Facilitation — Lead inter agency meetings and provide internal/external training.

  • Referral Management — Oversee referral processes and protocols.

  • Staff Leadership — Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff.

  • Community Collaboration — Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, donors, and community partners.

  • Clinical Services — Deliver individual, family, and group therapy within FES.

  • Agency Engagement — Contribute to committees, task forces, and community representation.

Experience and Skills

Education Requirements

  • Clinical degree required: MSW, Psy.D, or MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing human service programs serving diverse populations

  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/management experience

  • Ability to lead multiple programs and adapt supervisory style

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with government, community, and faith?based partners

  • Knowledge of the Greater Hartford community

  • Understanding of budgets and financial reporting

  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel within Greater Hartford

  • Demonstrated cultural competence; bilingual/bicultural preferred

  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and steady under pressure

  • Physically able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations
