Accountant - Accounts Payable, Hybrid.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a fast-moving financial services organization in Stamford, Connecticut. This position supports essential accounting operations with a focus on payables, general ledger activity, and cross-border payment processing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a high-volume environment and can maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, assigning proper accounting codes, and preparing timely payments.
• Record journal entries and support general ledger accuracy through consistent documentation and reconciliation practices.
• Process domestic and international payments, ensuring transactions are completed correctly and in line with internal controls.
• Handle foreign currency-related payment activity and assist with tracking exchange-rate impacts where applicable.
• Verify invoice details, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with internal teams or external vendors to address payment issues.
• Maintain organized financial records and contribute to month-end accounting tasks to support timely reporting.
• Assist with day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced trading environment, balancing deadlines and changing priorities.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to accounts payable functions.
• Working knowledge of journal entries and foundational general ledger processes.
• Experience processing invoices, coding expenses, and supporting accurate financial records.
• Familiarity with international payments and foreign currency transactions is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software tools.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and with outside contacts.
