Litigation Attorney

Minneapolis, MN 55439, US Full Time
Compensation: $140 to $170 Yearly

Well-established law firm in the SW metro is looking to add an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney. This attorney will step into active cases and work directly with insurers and long-standing clients from day one, with the opportunity to build their own client relationships over time.


The firm is seeking someone with at least 3-7+ years of insurance defense or other transferable defense-side litigation experience who wants to continue growing their practice. This is a partner-track role with a reasonable billable requirement and a clear path to building your own client base within a supportive, respected firm. A book of business is not required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an active litigation caseload from intake through resolution and trial
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Evaluate cases and develop litigation strategy in partnership with clients and carriers
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare substantive written work product
  • Communicate effectively with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and internal team members
  • Represent clients in court for hearings, arbitrations, and trials
  • Participate in settlement discussions and mediation

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice in Minnesota
  • Minimum 3-7+ years of insurance defense experience or other relevant defense‑side litigation experience
  • Trial experience (first‑chair or second‑chair)
  • Strong litigation skills, including depositions, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy
  • Ability to manage a full caseload independently
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Client‑focused with strong professional judgment
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work collaboratively within a team
