Accounts Payable Staff Accountant
Our client is looking for an Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to join a growing team. This position is ideal for an accounting specialist with strong attention to detail who can manage invoice workflows, support accurate financial reporting, and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across accounts payable operations, reconciliations, and month-end accounting activities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, assigning accurate account codes, matching supporting documentation, and preparing items for payment.
• Record journal entries and maintain supporting schedules to ensure financial transactions are posted correctly and on time.
• Participate in team discussions and status meetings by providing updates on payable activity, open items, and issues requiring follow-up.
• Reconcile accounts receivable-related balances and balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and summarize variances for management review.
• Prepare and process 1099-related documentation in compliance with reporting requirements and year-end deadlines.
• Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and lookup functions to organize data, analyze trends, and support account reconciliations.
• Assist with check runs and payment processing while maintaining accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
• Work within a large-scale ERP or accounting platform to manage invoice processing, reporting, and transaction records efficiently.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of accounting experience with strong exposure to accounts payable operations.
• Demonstrated ability to process invoices from receipt through payment, including matching, coding, and review for accuracy.
• Experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations, including balance sheet analysis.
• Working knowledge of 1099 reporting requirements and related year-end processing.
• Strong Excel skills, including hands-on use of pivot tables and lookup formulas such as VLOOKUP.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to share updates and resolve accounting issues collaboratively.
• Comfortable learning and using accounting systems and other technology tools in a deadline-driven setting.
• Prior experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field or comparable work experience
Compensation
