Employment Attorney - No Experience Required
We are looking for an attorney to join an exciting, new boutique litigation practice in Los Angeles, California, focused on employment defense and related business disputes. This role offers meaningful responsibility from the outset, with attorneys encouraged to take ownership of their matters and play an active role in hearings, mediations, and case strategy. The position also provides exposure to preventive counseling work, helping employers strengthen policies and practices to reduce future legal risk.
Newly barred and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply. Employment experience is not required, but strong academic pedigree is a must.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a litigation caseload that may include wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination claims, and other employment-related defense matters.
• Conduct legal research, evaluate case issues, and prepare persuasive written work product to support litigation strategy.
• Draft motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other pleadings required throughout the life of a case.
• Represent clients in depositions, court appearances, mediations, and settlement discussions.
• Collaborate with partners and colleagues to develop case strategy while maintaining strong day-to-day ownership of assigned files.
• Advise employer clients on workplace practices and help transition litigation relationships into ongoing counseling partnerships when appropriate.
• Prepare employment policies, separation agreements, and related workplace documents designed to support compliance and risk management.
• Contribute to client training and auditing efforts aimed at preventing future disputes and improving employment practices.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law.
• Background in civil litigation with exposure to employment law or employment litigation matters.
• Ability to draft motions, briefs, and discovery materials with strong analytical and written communication skills.
• Experience handling or supporting depositions, court appearances, mediations, or settlement negotiations.
• Strong academic credentials, including Top 50 law school and Top ranking undergraduate degree.
• Work history that reflects reasonable career stability for experienced candidates.
• Ability to commute to Los Angeles, California and work primarily onsite in a hybrid arrangement.
Compensation
