Sr. Fund Accountant

Compensation: $100 to $125 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to support the financial operations of investment funds in New Jersey. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage complex reporting, maintain strong financial controls, and contribute meaningful insights to fund performance. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners in a fast-paced asset management environment.


Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close processes across multiple funds and investment portfolios.

• Prepare and examine fund calculations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and recurring financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Produce periodic financial statements and support reliable reporting in accordance with established accounting standards and internal policies.

• Maintain adherence to regulatory obligations and control frameworks by monitoring accounting practices and resolving discrepancies promptly.

• Partner with external auditors, fund administrators, and custodial contacts to support audit requests and deliver required documentation.

• Review financial results, investigate variances, and provide analysis to portfolio managers and leadership to support decision-making.

• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen reporting quality, and improve the efficiency of accounting operations.

• Support general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and other core fund accounting activities tied to investment management operations.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 4 years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to asset management, private equity, hedge funds, mutual funds, or similar investment environments.

• Strong understanding of fund accounting concepts, investment reporting, and complex portfolio structures.

• Proficiency in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.

• Advanced Excel capabilities and experience using accounting systems or fund administration platforms.

• High level of accuracy, sound analytical judgment, and strong organizational skills.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.

• CPA certification, or active progress toward certification, is preferred.
