AVP of Operations

We are looking for an experienced operations leader to direct the daily performance of our fuel distribution business in Santa Barbara, California. This role is responsible for guiding teams, maintaining safe and efficient facilities, strengthening customer partnerships, and supporting continued business growth. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, operational discipline, and the ability to lead across people, assets, and service delivery.

Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day business operations across the fuel distribution organization, ensuring consistent service, strong execution, and alignment with company objectives.
• Direct and support staff across the McCormix and fuel dock teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
• Step in to cover essential administrative or operational duties when needed to maintain business continuity.
• Partner with leadership to coordinate priorities, share operational updates, and support decisions that affect multiple teams or locations.
• Oversee the upkeep, safety, and regulatory readiness of facilities, fueling sites, office spaces, and related operational assets.
• Manage equipment performance and service needs, including dispensers, cardlock systems, and other critical machinery used in daily operations.
• Monitor compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements and ensure operating practices meet industry standards.
• Support accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and financial records in coordination with internal staff and external partners.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing customers while pursuing new business through strategic outreach, bids, partnerships, and market development efforts.
• Respond to customer concerns promptly, provide clear communication on pricing and service expectations, and protect long-term customer trust.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of leadership experience in general management, operations, or a closely related role, ideally within fuel distribution or a comparable industry.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively through coaching, performance management, and goal setting.
• Strong knowledge of operational oversight, including facilities, fleet or equipment management, logistics, and service delivery.
• Solid financial and business management skills with the ability to review reports, support budgeting, and make data-informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for working with employees, customers, vendors, and leadership partners.
• Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with business software, spreadsheets, reporting tools, and general technology systems used in operations management.
• Forklift certification is preferred.

Compensation

$135,000.00-$155,000.00 Yearly
