Accounting and Reporting Manager
We are looking for an experienced Accounting and Reporting Manager to join our team in Emeryville, California. This role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of financial operations, and a proven ability to manage accounting processes efficiently. You will play a key role in overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly financial close for individual entities and consolidated GAAP and statutory reporting
- Serve as subject-matter expert for SEC and statutory filings, including proxy and quarterly/annual reports
- Act as main contact for external auditors and support timely quarterly and annual audits
- Manage accounting for fixed income investments, including valuations, reconciliations, and reporting
- Oversee payroll, stock-based compensation, equity, and APIC accounting
- Prepare and report quarterly basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS)
- Research complex accounting issues and document conclusions through memos and whitepapers
- Design and maintain accounting processes that meet SOX and Model Audit Rule requirements
- Improve systems and processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and automation
- Manage, train, and mentor accounting staff and support finance leadership on complex matters
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics; CPA or MBA preferred
- At least 6 years of experience in public accounting or a public company environment
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing or leading staff
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; statutory accounting experience is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, and experience with ERP/GL and BI systems
- Understanding of SOX and MAR 205 internal control requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear insights
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical memos and leadership presentations
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity
Compensation
