Accountant - Entry Level

We are looking for a detail-oriented Entry Level Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a team in New York, New York. This part-time Contract opportunity is well suited for someone who is organized, comfortable working with financial records, and eager to build hands-on experience in accounting. The position will focus on transaction processing, reconciliation work, receivables support, and accurate record maintenance while collaborating with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Record and post incoming cash transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Process remittance documentation and ensure payment details are matched to the appropriate accounts.
• Support accounts receivable activities by updating records, tracking outstanding items, and helping maintain accurate balances.
• Perform account, bank, and cash reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve variances.
• Enter financial information into accounting systems with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Conduct outreach to obtain missing payment details, clarify account issues, and support resolution of open items.
• Prepare basic accounting entries and maintain organized documentation for daily financial activity.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for sorting, reviewing, and maintaining financial data.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Experience or coursework related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general accounting support.
• Ability to perform reconciliations and investigate discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
• Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for follow-up and internal coordination.
• Ability to manage part-time responsibilities independently while meeting deadlines.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
