Financial Analyst

Compensation: $110 to $125 Yearly

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to support crude oil settlement activities in Houston, Texas. This position focuses on ensuring transactions are recorded, validated, and settled accurately while partnering with commercial, operational, and accounting teams. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, experience in energy-related financial processes, and the ability to manage complex data and contract terms in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the full settlement cycle for physical crude oil transactions across transportation and storage channels, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Examine contract terms and commercial agreements to determine the correct application of pricing structures, fees, quality adjustments, and transportation charges.
• Verify transaction details by analyzing volumes, market pricing inputs, tariff schedules, and related financial calculations.
• Investigate and resolve variances by reconciling internal records with counterparty documentation and external statements.
• Prepare billing and settlement documentation, track outstanding balances, and coordinate follow-up on payment issues or disputed items.
• Partner with trading, scheduling, risk, and accounting teams to confirm complete transaction capture and reliable financial reporting.
• Contribute to month-end activities by supporting accrual preparation, account analysis, and settlement-related reporting requirements.
• Strengthen operational controls by documenting procedures, improving workflows, and assisting with process automation or system enhancement efforts.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced team members and promote consistent settlement practices across the group.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in crude oil settlements, trading operations, energy accounting, or a closely related area.
• Working knowledge of physical crude oil markets, logistics flows, and common industry pricing benchmarks.
• Experience interpreting transportation terms, terminal charges, tariffs, and measurement-related documentation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and complex spreadsheet functions.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Compensation

$110,000.00-$125,000.00 Yearly
