Sr. Accountant
We are looking for a Senior Accountant with strong construction project accounting experience to join our growing team in the construction industry in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will work closely with the Controller to manage financial operations and ensure the accuracy of accounting records. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in enhancing financial processes and driving operational efficiency as the company continues to expand.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the financial schedule, ensuring timely planning, coordination, and adherence to deadlines.
• Lead month-end close processes, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Prepare, review, and deliver monthly financial statements with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
• Track and record fixed assets, amortization schedules, and debt-related activities.
• Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations and address any discrepancies.
• Conduct internal audits related to sales tax and ensure compliance with filing requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial workflows.
• Review and monitor purchase orders for compliance and accuracy.
• Assist the Controller with cash flow management and provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior-level role.• Proven expertise in financial statement preparation and review.
• Advanced skills in account reconciliation and general ledger management.
• Strong organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and enforce schedules effectively.
• Experience in refining and improving accounting processes and internal controls.
• Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage 100, and advanced Excel skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Compensation
