Payroll Administrator
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator with experience in certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance to support a high-volume, project-based environment. This role will focus on auditing payroll data, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting accurate reporting across active projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit certified payroll reports against pay stubs, hours worked, and internal systems to ensure accuracy
- Prepare and review certified payroll reports (including WH-347 and similar documentation)
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon requirements
- Identify and resolve discrepancies related to wages, benefits, and overtime
- Perform and validate retro pay / restitution calculations as needed
- Support compliance reviews, including wage determinations and employee classifications
- Maintain accurate and organized payroll and project documentation
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure proper pay rates are applied on applicable projects
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in certified payroll, prevailing wage, or payroll compliance
- Working knowledge of Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage regulations
- Hands-on experience reviewing and interpreting certified payroll reports (not just processing)
- Experience with retro pay calculations and discrepancy resolution
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and reconcile complex data
- Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic calculations)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, public works, or government-funded projects
- Background in payroll auditing or compliance review
- Familiarity with multi-state or high-volume payroll environments
- Exposure to payroll systems and HRIS platforms
Work Environment
- High-volume, fast-paced environment supporting multiple active projects
- Full-time workload with focus on accuracy, compliance, and data integrity
- No strict production metrics—success is based on quality, comprehension, and attention to detail
- Systems and internal processes will be trained
