Billing Clerk

We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Clerk to support utility billing operations in Sugarland, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume billing tasks with accuracy while working across teams to address account issues and maintain service quality. The role focuses on producing timely invoices, investigating billing variances, and helping improve day-to-day billing processes. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and confidence working within computerized billing environments.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare scheduled and non-scheduled utility billing for assigned service areas, ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on time.

• Investigate account irregularities, review estimated usage situations, and resolve billing discrepancies in accordance with established rates and governing guidelines.

• Complete account updates such as billing corrections, rebills, reversals, and additional charge entries when adjustments are needed.

• Partner with customer service, field personnel, and technical support teams to address billing concerns and strengthen operational efficiency.

• Open, monitor, and follow up on service-related work orders connected to billing inquiries and field activity.

• Maintain accurate billing records and verify supporting information within computerized billing systems.

• Contribute to department initiatives aimed at refining billing workflows and supporting special assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience handling billing activities in a service-based or utility-related environment.
• Working knowledge of billing statements, account adjustments, collections support, and computerized billing systems.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, research account details, and resolve issues with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong computer proficiency and comfort navigating billing platforms and related business applications.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operational and customer-facing teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple billing deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$25.00-$28.00 Hourly
