Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the monthly close cycle by reviewing financial activity, confirming accurate postings, and helping produce timely internal reports and updated cash flow outlooks.
• Examine journal entries and account classifications to ensure financial records align with company standards, established accounting practices, and internal controls.
• Partner with teams across the division to address accounting issues, resolve discrepancies, and improve coordination on financial matters.
• Develop and manage operating budgets for several departments, offering guidance on expense planning and appropriate cost coding.
• Work closely with shared services partners to align deliverables, maintain consistency in accounting support, and resolve processing issues efficiently.
• Prepare and review account support, transaction documentation, and general ledger analysis to meet policy requirements and audit readiness expectations, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance needs.
• Lead reconciliation efforts for key balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigating variances and escalating material concerns when needed.
• Assign responsibilities based on team members’ strengths, contribute to performance feedback, and provide ongoing coaching to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
Qualifications:
The ideal Accounting Manager MUST have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Other requirements for the Accounting Manager role include and are not limited to:
• 5+ years of public accounting experience w/ private mix or straight public from Big 4
• CPA a plus
• Experience supporting homebuilding a plus
• Ability to prepare budgets, analyze financial results, and contribute to cash flow forecasting
• Excellent communication skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
