This position will be in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The selected Systems Engineer – Level 3 or 4 responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the (MBSE) Model Based Systems Engineering and Systems Safety team. This role is responsible for developing systems engineering and safety engineering products that directly support the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Essential Functions:
Decompose customer specification documents into Clear, Verifiable, and Achievable requirements utilizing DOORS.
Develop Verification Compliance Strategizes that detail how we plan to verify derived requirements and what data is required to provide the evidence.
Own requirement or verification packages, and hold reviews and adjudicating comments from Product Teams, SMES, and the Customer to baseline Packages.
Own development of systems safety engineering packages for GWS (including safety analysis and modeling efforts)

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer – Level 3 or a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4.
Basic Qualifications (Systems Engineer – Level 3 or 4):
Systems Engineer Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD. and 1 year of related work experience.
Systems Engineer Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of related work experience, or a PhD. and 4 years of related work experience.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
2+ years of experience with requirements decomposition and management (4+ Years for the Level 4 role)
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
Verification experience or knowledge
Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
Experience developing Certification or Verification packages for all levels of requirements (including safety requirements for operations, flight test, and ground test)
Experience developing systems engineering and systems safety products in an Agile environment
System Safety Engineering experience conducting comprehensive system safety analyses IAW MIL-STD-882E, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), and Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA) to ensure compliance and mitigate operational risks
Missile Defense Weapon System experience
Must be able to work on-site in an office environment.

Experience with Requirement Verification methods such as Test
GMD Knowledge
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate
Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus
Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools
INCOSE or System Engineering certification
