Northrop Grumman Mission System’s Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Division is seeking an Operations Manager to facilitate the day-to-day operations for the Sector Engineering & Sciences organization, including ensuring the coordination and seamless integration of activities across individual teams within the organization and that activities align with the functional and strategic priorities.  The Manager also provides support to executive leadership to enable business execution excellence, including continuous planning, goals tracking, organizational and program risk identification & mitigation and the appropriate development, dissemination and deployment of policy, the advancement of engineering practices and application of effective processes. The individual will be the direct liaison to the Sector VP of Engineering.

What You’ll Get to Do:
Operations:

  • Lead the integration of engineering activities across sector & division level organizations.

  • Provide a virtual functional homeroom for operations managers across next level engineering organizations; Ensures commonality and the sharing of best practices for operations functions within each engineering organization.

  • Partner with next level engineering and division operations managers in an operational cadence to include cyclic reporting and analysis of program and portfolio goals to achieve contractual and organizational objectives.

  • Support the process for resource planning (including staffing, NCTA, Capital, etc.).

  • Support budgeting, planning and financial forecasting.

  • Partner with discipline managers to ensure engineering has the facilities & infrastructure to effectively support business execution and growth.

  • Coordination of engineering status reporting.

  • Support the engineering process audits (as needed).

  • Manage and maintain data repositories (e.g; SharePoint, Website content).

  • Planning, coordination, and facilitation of meetings such as leadership off-sites and site visits, functional reviews, staffing and financial reviews, staff meetings, etc.

  • Perform special assignments and/or lead special initiatives as assigned.

Strategy:

  • Coordinate the development and reporting of the Engineering strategy in conjunction with the sector strategy lead and sector Vice President.

  • Participate in long-range strategic planning process for Engineering & Sciences.

  • Translate business needs into short / long term engineering functional strategies (people, process, tools, products and services).

Performance Measures:

  • Facilitate and track independent reviews (e.g; System Architecture, Affordability and Risk Reviews).

  • Partnering with cross-functional leads on collaborative sector level efforts.

  • Coordinate regular review of engineering metrics (e.g; metrics repository and leading indicators, IPRS, Salesforce).

  • Collect and analyze data and use advanced Data Analytics techniques to validate leading indicator metrics and enable enhanced performance prediction; share trends across the division(s) and sector to be leveraged as best practices and lessons learned.

This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain a U.S Government Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active U.S Government Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience, a Master's degree with 8 years of experience, or a PhD with 6 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or other related technical fields. 

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret Clearance. 

  • Proven ability to lead and deliver complex projects on time and within budget, coupled with advanced expertise in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Deep familiarity with Northrop Grumman’s portfolio, product lines, and business planning processes and tools.

  • Thorough understanding of the systems development lifecycle and its associated engineering disciplines.

  • Expert knowledge of corporate engineering standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Proven leadership ability combined with strong collaboration and team building skills.

  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, enabling swift, data driven recommendations from both quantitative and qualitative sources.

  • Proficient in leveraging AI technologies to enhance insight generation and decision making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields. 

  • A current/active U.S Government Secret Clearance or higher. 

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with senior leadership across Northrop Grumman and key customer organizations, building strong strategic relationships.

  • Expertise in Agile methodologies, including mastery of the full suite of associated tools, ceremonies, and continuous delivery processes.

  • Proven track record managing a wide spectrum of program types from research and development and full rate production to logistics support, systems integration, and service delivery.

  • Extensive leadership experience in both functional and program wide roles, driving cross functional teams toward mission critical objectives.

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
