Senior Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support accounting operations for a logistics organization in Eagan, Minnesota. This Contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage core accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely reporting. The role will focus on general ledger oversight, reconciliations, tax-related accounting, and month-end close activities while working in a fast-paced business environment.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances to maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Lead key month-end close tasks, including reviewing balances, supporting schedules, and resolving outstanding issues.
• Support corporate tax and sales tax processes by organizing records, assisting with filings, and helping maintain compliance.
• Contribute to the preparation of corporate tax return documentation and related accounting support materials.
• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze financial information, build supporting schedules, and improve reporting accuracy.
• Work within Microsoft Great Plains to process accounting activity and maintain reliable financial records.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address accounting questions, improve workflows, and support ongoing operational needs.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in senior-level accounting or staff accounting roles with strong general ledger knowledge.
• Hands-on ability to prepare journal entries, complete reconciliations, and support month-end close activities.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and account support documentation.
• Experience using Microsoft Great Plains Accounting in an accounting environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a contract assignment.

Compensation

$35.00-$42.00 Hourly
