Payroll Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position will manage end-to-end payroll operations for a large employee population across multiple states while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll systems knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to support a high-volume environment with confidence.

Responsibilities:

• Process complete payroll cycles for a workforce of more than 700 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.

• Administer multi-state payroll activities in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax requirements.

• Review payroll data for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments before final submission.

• Maintain payroll records, earnings, deductions, and tax information in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.

• Utilize payroll platforms such as UKG/Kronos to support daily payroll operations and reporting needs.

• Partner with internal teams to address payroll-related questions, investigate issues, and provide clear resolution.

• Reconcile payroll results and support audit readiness by preparing documentation and validating payroll outputs.

• Assist with payroll process improvements and support system-related updates or changes as needed within payroll operations.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience managing payroll in a high-volume environment.

• Demonstrated expertise in full cycle payroll processing.

• Hands-on experience handling payroll across multiple states.

• Background supporting payroll for employee populations exceeding 700 workers.

• Proficiency with UKG Pro, UKG Ready, and Kronos.

• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax practices, and recordkeeping standards.

• High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
