What You Will Do

  • The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate credentials to determine eligibility for admission for all undergraduate applicants to the University; prepare and analyze records, and serve as a professional specialist in Admissions/Records activities.
  • This position trains staff in assigned duties, serves as a specialist with the Admissions/Records functions; interprets admission policies and procedures; counsels and advises applicants on University academic requirements; cooperates with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions/Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions/Admissions/Records Coordinator pertaining to admissions and records policies and procedures.
  • This position actively participates in prospective/new student activities across campus; composes written materials related to assigned duties by participating in the formulation of departmental procedures, manuals, etc. to aid in the admission process.
  • In order for this objective to be accomplished, this position must have a complete understanding of University admission policies and guidelines or order to make the appropriate admission decision.
  • This position is critical to the success of the University, to ensure that the Admissions Office meets its goals; and the timeliness of the enrollment process.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
A. course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
60 semester hours or an Associates Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.

Interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of collegiate admissions, records analysis or records management. Oral and written communication skills, reading comprehensive skills, written composition skills. Basic computer/data entry skills, analytical and reasoning ability, mathematical computation ability. Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of the university admission policies and procedures, ability to research and analyze information. Strong attention to detail, proficient with Banner or related student information systems. Ability to work accurately under extreme pressure and meet deadlines. Capable of multitasking.

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
