Research Specialist II
Overview
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a Research Specialist to join the laboratory of Dr. John Storey. We are looking for a candidate who can assist the research group with development and implementation of data analysis methods and algorithms for genomics data.
Salary will include the full benefits package. This is a full-time, six-month term position.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Implement software as required, including tools for retrieving/collecting data, searching, visualizing, and analyzing data.
- Implement and test data analysis methods.
- Document results and software.
Qualifications
List all essential requirements/skills:
- Master’s or PhD degree in statistics, genetics, mathematics, computer science or related fields.
- Some experience with statistical methods development and production software development.
- The successful candidate must be able to work productively in a research team environment.
Non-essential (preferred) requirements/skills:
- Knowledge of genomics (single nucleotide polymorphism genotypes, genome-wide association studies, and related data) and relevant data analysis techniques highly preferred.
- Experience with utilizing large compute clusters is extremely valuable.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple collaborations/research projects at once.
The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully.
