Payroll and Benefits Accountant Administrator

Compensation: $32 to $42 Hourly

Lisa Cole with Robert Half is partnering with an established and growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and reconcile payroll prior to final transmission
  • Validate payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the payroll vendor
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Process quarterly payroll tax filings, including state-specific reporting requirements
  • Administer wage garnishments, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Review and process non-standard payments (e.g., bonuses, retro pay, stipends, manual checks) with proper approvals
  • Support year-end processing including W-2s and 1099s
  • Maintain and reconcile payroll vendor statements
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll and timekeeping inquiries
  • Provide training to employees on time and attendance systems
  • Review payroll data entries completed by HR for accuracy
  • Process payroll updates including wages, hours, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions
  • Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and benefit-related requirements
  • Prepare reports and submit payments to government agencies and other entities as required
  • Manage time and attendance system setup, audits, and employee terminations
  • Support 401(k) administration, including audits, reporting, and employee updates
  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation audits and reporting
  • Reconcile benefit invoices and partner with HR/Benefits to resolve discrepancies
  • Generate ad hoc payroll and operational reports as needed



Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume or multi-entity environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k) administration
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
  • High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally



Compensation

$32.00-$42.00 Hourly
