Entry Level Systems Architecture Engineer: Exterior Vehicle Body

Ford is seeking an Entry Level Systems Architecture Engineer: Exterior Vehicle Body to assist our team in delivering and influencing the next generation Ford and Lincoln vehicles. This career opportunity which is in the area of automotive body structure engineering is now available for showcasing your knowledge, skills, and leadership during the critical upfront phase for our new car and truck programs.


  • Explore a wide variety of vehicle types, architectures and influence future platform strategies for North American and Global Ford programs
  • Develop body structure proposals to support new vehicle proportions and lightweight actions
  • Evaluate body systems, architecture and technology for various attributes
  • Package studies and resolve incompatibilities between systems quantitatively
  • Prepare and present studies to piers and management
  • CAE FEA studies including NVH, Durability, & Safety
  • Work with Vehicle Assembly Operations to understand impact of new vehicle proposals at multiple assembly plants including launch implications
  • Develop cost and weight improvement actions
  • Prepare BOM, Cost, Weight and assembly flow documents
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering
  • GPA 3.0 or higher
  • 1 or more courses or internships utilizing and applying CATIA application and 3 D geometry creations
  • Team Member of university sponsored SAE Formula One, BAJA Vehicle or High Mileage
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience progressing engineering design solutions delivering compatibility with vehicle targets such as NVH, safety and weight
  • 5+ years creating and interpreting engineering disciplines including Boundary Diagrams, DFMEA and validation/verification techniques
  • 5+ years of experience designing 3D geometry utilizing CATIA CAD software
  • 1+ years of experience utilizing CAE FEA tools
  • 1+ year of launch experience with automotive assembly & plant functions
  • Passion for engineering and product excellence with outstanding communication, organizational and presentation skills
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and skilled individual with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with strong overall vehicle knowledge.
  • Ability to multi-task and rapidly adjust to changing requirements
